Head Golf Professional, Brent Meyer, and Director of Instruction, Greg Place, instruct players of all ages and skill levels with private or group lessons. 2011 Riverdale Junior Golf Program
This is an invitation to junior golfers of all ages and skill levels to participate in this year’s junior golf program. For the 2011 season we will follow a two-week program that will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings. The start date for the program will be June 21st and will end June 30th. Each junior golf participant will receive swing and etiquette instruction, be eligible to win prizes during each session and participate in a tournament on the final day.
The first five sessions will adhere to the following format:
1 hour lesson on the driving range, practice green or golf course
15 minute contest on daily activity
Day 6 of the program will consist of the following:
45 minute review lesson or practice session
3, 5 or 9 hole tournament based on age and skill level

1. Feet shoulder width apart
2. Knees bent such that kneecaps are directly over the balls of the feet
3. Bend directly from the waist keeping the back flat
1. V’s – the V’s formed by the thumb and fore finger should point towards and meet at right shoulder
2. Knuckles – students should be able to see two knuckles at address
3. Fingers – the weight of the club should rest in the fingers, not the palm
1. Body alignment – feet, knees, hips and shoulders must be on a line just left of the intended target
2. Target alignment – clubface and swing path must be on a line parallel to, but just right of the body alignment

3. Take grip
4. Check posture, grip and alignment
5. Complete the swing
Introduction to Short Game
1. Rules and etiquette
2. Chipping and Putting technique
3. Develop a feel for distance
Woods, Irons, and Wedges
1. An iron is hit on the downswing, while a wood is hit on the upswing
2. Place the ball in the middle of the stance for iron play, slightly back for wedges and front of the stance for wood play
Day 4
Short Game Focus
1. Assess the situation
2. Decide on a club
3. Visualize planned shot
Day 5
Proper Practice Routines
1. Practice with an intention
Practice how you play – on the golf course you don’t hit 15 drivers in a row
2. Make practice competitive – practice with a partner if possible
Day 6
Review and Practice Session followed by Tournament
